Children and Young People Matter: A Plan for Youth Development in Maidstone 2005-8

Young people will be the future leaders of the borough and it is important that they engage in their community. The council has produced a draft strategy that sets out the its plan for youth development in Maidstone and would like your view on this.

The key outcomes for young people include:

  • being healthy
  • staying safe
  • enjoyment and achievement
  • making a positive contribution
  • achieve economic well-being

The council will:

  • maximise resoucres in both the voluntary and public sector
  • encourage young people to realise their potential in a safe, secure environment
  • ensure equality of opportunity and access to facilities, resources, advice and information
  • consult, listen to and encourage participation in decisions
  • empower young people to build independence and community responsibility.

To deliver this strategy we will work in partnership with other major players in this area.

Consultation is now closed but we have inserted the final strategy on the website for your information.
