Reviewing Services

Although the Council is not required to undertake Best Value studies the principle of applying the 4’s, compare, challenge, consult and compete still do provide a useful framework for reviews. The links below provide access to the review reports for each of the reviews.

In 2007/08 three studies were undertaken on:

CCTV (scoping report, options report);

Concessionary Fares (scoping report, options report); and

Grants to Outside Bodies (scoping report, options report).

In March 2008, the Cabinet considered an initial report on an approach to Best Value Reviews for 2008-11.  The next step is for more detailed scoping reports to be considered by Cabinet in May 2008.

The Council is not required to be re-inspected provided that the Council’s Use of Resources results and other inspection outcomes remain steady and direction of travel is upwards. From April 2009 a new assessment framework, Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA), is being introduced.   This link takes you to the Audit Commission's pages on the introduction of CAA http://www.audit-commission.gov.uk/cpa/cpatransition.asp
