Question - Has the KIG – Kent International Gateway – application been received?

 

Answer - Yes it was validated on 23 October 2007.

 

Question - Where can I see the application?

 

Answer - The application is available to view at our offices at – 5-11 London Road, 13 Tonbridge Road and The Town Hall, Maidstone. Parish Councils will have copies and it is on our website.

 

Question - How long will I have to object or comment?

 

Answer - The council has 16 weeks until 13 February 2008 to consider the application. We have written to neighbours, parish councils and others asking for comments within three weeks but we will consider all comments right up to the date of decision.

 

Question - How will people get to know about the application?

 

Answer - We have:

 

  • written to up to 3,000 people who live near to the site,
  • put up about 40 notices in the areas near to the application site,
  • sent details to libraries,
  • sent the application to parish councils,
  • consulted 60 statutory and other consultees including the South East England Regional Assembly, South East England Development Agency, Network South East and the Government Office for the South East,
  • put all the information about the application on the home page of our website.

 

We are:

 

  • meeting with representatives of parish councils and interest groups.
  • briefing Maidstone Borough Council and local KCC councillors and MPs.
  • working with newspapers, radio and tv to publicise the application.
