Maidstone Borough Councils Concessionary Travel
Scheme
Maidstone Borough Council supports the
National Concessionary Travel Scheme. It offers free travel
for the over sixties and disabled people on all local buses
throughout England, between 9:00am and 11pm weekdays and all day at
weekends.
Companion Bus Passes
From September 2008, companion bus passes
will be available to disabled people who receive a high rate
mobility component or higher rate attendance allowance. It
will enable them to take an unnamed escort with them on a bus
to help them with their journeys.
All enquiries and new applications for bus
passes and companion passes should be made to the Concessionary
Travel section at Maidstone Borough Council by calling 01622
602334.
Travel Vouchers
Maidstone Borough Council is supporting a transport voucher
scheme to help those who, through severe disability, are unable to
use conventional bus services. The scheme run by Age Concern
Maidstone started September 2008. The vouchers will pay for
journeys on taxis and voluntary transport schemes. £70 of vouchers
will be awarded for a full year with a pro-rata allocation for a
part year.
The scheme, which is funded and supported by
Maidstone Borough Council, is only available to those who do not
hold a free bus pass.
