Domestic Violence affects children

 girl

Every child is different some may show the following signs:

  • Feeling guilty and holding themselves responsible
  • Difficulty in trusting anyone
  • Bedwetting, stomach aches, headaches
  • Sleep disturbance, nightmares
  • Regression in personal development – thumb sucking
  • Aggression – out of control
  • Withdrawn.
  • Neglect
  • Fear and loss of Confidence

The abuser will try and convince you that if you report any incidents the children will be taken away from you.  Social Services and other agencies have a responsibility and duty to ensure that all children are safe and will support you in protecting your children.

Involve your child’s school and making them aware of the situation.  They have your child’s interests as their concerns, and may be a place of safety at difficult times.
